The future of Ukraine lies within NATO, but for now, the Alliance will focus on supporting Kyiv, according to Rutte.

The aggressor country, Russia, shows no intention of ending its war against Ukraine and is attempting to undermine its resistance, which is backed by NATO. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during a press conference in Brussels on December 3, ahead of a two-day meeting of NATO foreign ministers, as reported by the defense alliance's press service on YouTube.
Рютте: Украина имеет будущее в НАТО, но в данный момент Альянс сосредоточится на поддержке Киева.

According to him, the Kremlin is mistaken in both cases.

"Putin is not interested in peace; he continues to exert pressure in an attempt to seize new territories. He believes he can break the resolve of Ukraine and ours," said Rutte.

When asked if Kyiv would be invited to join the Alliance at the December meeting, he replied, "The allies agreed that Ukraine's future lies in NATO." Members of the bloc consider this "irreversible," but in the near term, they intend to focus on strengthening Ukraine's defense positions.

"The meeting in the next two days will largely be dedicated to ensuring that Ukraine, whenever it decides to enter peace negotiations, does so from a position of strength," he stated.

On the morning of December 3, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that Ukraine will not accept security guarantees that replace NATO membership.

The statement, which was obtained by "European Truth," emphasized that "the only real security guarantee for Ukraine, as well as a deterrent against further Russian aggression towards Ukraine and other states, is full membership in NATO... Given the bitter experience of the Budapest Memorandum, we will not accept any alternatives, surrogates, or substitutes for full membership in NATO."

On November 29, the agency Reuters reported that the head of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry, Andrii Sibiga, sent a letter to NATO colleagues urging them to invite Ukraine to join NATO as early as December. The Foreign Minister allegedly called on NATO foreign ministers to support Ukraine's invitation to the Alliance during the meeting of foreign ministers in Brussels on December 3-4.
