It has been reported that a deputy of the Lviv Regional Council, as well as the deputy mayor of one of the communities in the region, attempted to deceive a local private entrepreneur and fraudulently take 1.2 million UAH from him.
As noted by the State Bureau of Investigations (GBR), the deputy and the deputy mayor promised the entrepreneur assistance in winning a tender for construction work in the Lviv region, but he declined.
After the entrepreneur won the tender independently, the deputy and the official pretended that they had provided help, and in a pushy manner demanded a portion of his profit, as reported by the State Bureau.
The deputy of the regional council and the deputy mayor were detained while receiving $25,000 and 190,000 UAH.
According to data from the Office of the Prosecutor General, the deputy and the official were apprehended after the second part of the money was handed over. They were informed of the suspicion of fraud, added the GBR.
The State Bureau published photos of the arrest. In one of them, dollars can be seen in a toilet. How they ended up there remains unclear.
Neither the GBR nor the OGP disclosed the names of those detained, but according to sources from "Ukrainska Pravda", the individuals in question are Vladimir Domanets, a representative of "European Solidarity" in the Lviv Regional Council, and Vitaliy Deneg, the first deputy mayor of Yavoriv.
