The head of the Catholic Church expressed hope that under Trump's presidency, the American people "will thrive and always strive to build a more just society."
The Pope reminded that the United States "is a land of opportunities and hospitality for all."
"At the same time, as numerous challenges face our humanity, not to mention the calamities of war, I ask God to guide your efforts in fostering peace and reconciliation among nations," wrote Francis in his letter to Trump.
