The Bulgarian Parliament approved a declaration prohibiting the deployment of troops to Ukraine.

The Bulgarian Parliament has adopted a declaration stating that military personnel from the country will not participate in operations in Ukraine unless it is a commitment under NATO, the EU, the UN, or the OSCE. This was reported by the Bulgarian publication Novinite.com on February 21.
Болгарский парламент утвердил декларацию, запрещающую развертывание войск в Украину.

The declaration called for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict. However, the document does not contain a direct condemnation of the war initiated by the aggressor country Russia against Ukraine, and attempts to include wording condemning Russia's actions were rejected.

Additionally, the proposal to remove references to Bulgaria's obligations to NATO and the EU was not accepted.

During the parliamentary debates, Angel Georgiev, a deputy from the pro-Russian party "Revival," stated that the declaration leaves open the possibility of sending Bulgarian troops to Ukraine. At the same time, Stanislav Balabanov from the party "There Is Such a People" assured that without an official request from the Council of Ministers, the role of the parliament was solely to provide institutional guarantees through the declaration.
