The Prime Minister of Armenia noted that his decision not to attend the CIS meeting was made "after consulting with colleagues."
"I will not participate in the informal summit of CIS leaders taking place today in St. Petersburg. By the end of the day, I will decide whether to attend tomorrow's meeting of the Supreme Economic Council of the EAEU," Pashinyan stated.
Later, the head of the Armenian government announced that his test for the coronavirus was "positive again."
"I will work with some limitations until I recover," Pashinyan explained.
The Moscow Times reports that the illegitimate president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, will host guests at the CIS summit.
Putin will also attend the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council of the EAEU, which is to be chaired by Pashinyan, the publication notes.
Media outlets point out that Pashinyan has been "trying to avoid summits involving Russia" for the second year due to Moscow's failure to fulfill its obligations under the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Specifically, in May, instead of attending the CIS meeting in Turkmenistan, the Prime Minister of Armenia went to inaugurate a dairy plant in Yerevan.
