When asked by the host who ultimately canceled the lunch at the White House, Livitt responded that it was a decision made by Trump.
"Trump enjoyed the lunch. He figuratively and literally devoured President Zelensky's meal," Livitt stated.
Previously, Trump’s assistant and White House Chief of Staff Dan Scavino had shared a photo of the menu for Zelensky on social media X, which included an early spring salad, roasted chicken with rosemary, and crème brûlée.
"Some seats were empty, so President Trump invited a few additional team members from the West Wing," he wrote.
Sky News had earlier reported that the lunch between the presidents did not take place.
