"The need to improve legislation has arisen due to the fact that under martial law, not all eligible citizens of Ukraine can personally arrive at the designated time in territorial recruitment and social support centers to register for military service, as they may be abroad, in temporarily occupied territories, in areas where hostilities are taking place, or for other valid reasons," – states the explanatory note to the document.
The press service of the Verkhovna Rada clarified in a Telegram post that if the bill is passed, Ukrainians who turn 17 will be able to register for military service using an electronic cabinet (or as before – during a visit to the territorial recruitment center).
"Young men will no longer need to contact the recruitment center or undergo a medical examination. It will be sufficient to complete identification in 'Reserv+', after which the application will automatically generate the military registration document," – stated Ukraine's Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, writes the press service of the Ministry of Defense in Telegram.
He added that "this is yet another step towards transitioning military registration into a convenient digital format."
