According to him, the goal of the United States is to bring Russians to the negotiating table, "if that is even possible," to end the war and ensure it never happens again.
"Everyone here knows the history inside and out. We all understand it. But now the question arises, can we get them to the negotiating table? That is our objective. Do nothing to sabotage that. And that is unfortunately what [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky did – he turned every question on its head," Rubio stated.
The Secretary of State also mentioned that before ensuring security for Ukraine, as insisted by Zelensky, it is essential to confirm whether peace is even possible and if the aggressor country, Russia, is ready for it.
