Investigators believe that the head of one of the central departments of the Logistics Forces Command, the head of the department of this command, and a former director of a private enterprise were involved in the case.
In 2022, military officials received an offer from a businessman for the supply of spare parts for armored vehicles. The prices were inflated, and the entrepreneur lacked experience in manufacturing and supplying such products, as reported by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). Despite this knowledge, representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine still entered into a contract with him and signed two agreements totaling 171 million hryvnias. An expert evaluation determined that the state incurred losses from this deal amounting to 83 million hryvnias.
Two officials from the Logistics Forces have been notified of suspicion for exceeding their official powers under conditions of martial law, in preliminary conspiracy (part 2 of article 28, part 5 of article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The former director of the private enterprise faces charges of embezzlement of property through abuse of office (part 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Law enforcement officials will request the court to take them into custody.
