Several Georgian diplomats have already announced their resignations due to the country’s shift away from Euro-integration. According to the TV channel Formula, this decision was made by the Ambassador of Georgia to the USA, David Zalkalian, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Teimuraz Jandjalia. As reported by "Echo of the Caucasus", the acting Ambassador of Georgia to Italy, Irakli Vekua, announced that he is "saying goodbye" to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, the Ambassador of Georgia to Lithuania, Salome Shapakidze, also announced her resignation in protest against the government’s actions.
Furthermore, on November 29, the Ambassador of Georgia to Bulgaria, Otar Berdzenishvili, also reported his resignation. He explained that for over 20 years he has "actively participated in the process of Euro-Atlantic and European integration of Georgia and in building strong and trusting relationships with allies," and that these efforts should not be undermined. He supplemented his post with a hashtag against violence towards peaceful protesters.
