Zelensky has signed a law that permits returning to service after the first instance of unauthorized absence or desertion.

On November 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law allowing for the voluntary return to service of individuals who previously deserted or left their military unit without permission. This is confirmed by the legislative map of Bill No. 12095 on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
Зеленский утвердил закон, который дает возможность вернуться на службу после первого СОЧ или дезертирства.

The law stipulates that a soldier who has left their unit or other location for the first time may return and continue their service.

Criminal proceedings initiated for the first instance of leaving a unit or desertion under the new law do not serve as grounds for denying the extension of service, including contract renewal. The soldier's financial payments and other deductions, as well as benefits and social guarantees, are reinstated, as noted in the document.

The law was adopted in full by the Verkhovna Rada on November 21. It was submitted for the president's signature on November 28.
