In the first half of January 2025, Ukraine reduced its foreign trade volumes of dairy products by 42.7% compared to the first half of December 2024, amounting to $15.8 million, reported the press service of the Dairy Enterprises Union of Ukraine (DEUU).
According to the announcement, export volumes decreased by 14%, while import volumes fell by 54%.
The industry association noted a 57% increase in the export of butter and dairy fats against a backdrop of a 31% decline in the export of milk and condensed cream, as well as a 28% drop in whey exports.
At the same time, imports of non-condensed milk and cream rose by 75%, while imports of butter/dairy fats decreased by 74%, and cheese of all types dropped by 53%.
As previously reported, industry media indicate a 50% increase in the import of rennet cheeses (hard, semi-hard, white) compared to December 2023, reaching 4.6 thousand tons. Deliveries of European processed cheeses in the same comparison increased by 28% to over 500 tons.
