The United States cannot confirm the active involvement of North Korean military personnel in combat against the Defense Forces. However, according to Pentagon spokesperson Patrick Ryder, DPRK fighters have been integrated into the units of the Russian Armed Forces.
"So far, we have not seen North Korean soldiers actively participating in offensive operations at the front line. Although we expect that at some point, this is likely to happen," said Patrick Ryder.
He also stated that there is information about the deaths of North Korean military personnel as a result of Ukrainian strikes on Russian targets.
In November, however, President Vladimir Zelensky noted that 11,000 North Korean soldiers had been deployed to the borders of Ukraine, and this contingent could grow to 100,000. The South Korean spy agency reported that DPRK troops have already participated in combat against the Defense Forces.
"They are most likely undergoing what is called combat acclimatization and establishing horizontal connections, meaning interaction with other units of the occupying army," said Snegirev.
He reminded that, according to GUR information, currently up to two thousand North Korean servicemen are included in the units of the Russian army. Specifically, reports have mentioned units from the marine brigade and airborne troops.
"Out of 12,000, two thousand, according to preliminary information, are undergoing direct combat acclimatization already in the units of the Russian army," the expert clarified.
Snegirev noted that the American side had previously stated that it did not have information regarding the presence of DPRK militants in the Kursk region. He believes that American intelligence is verifying GUR data and will soon release a statement confirming the information from the Ukrainian side.
"Let's be legal. If there is a person with an unusual eye shape, no one will dare to say 100% that this is a North Korean, South Korean, Udmurt, or Buryat. We understand that these guys are from North Korea. But for the Americans, it's easier to play this way because Ukraine and the whole world are constantly demanding something from them: 'Look, North Korea, you must do something,'" explained Stupak.
According to him, the Biden administration has less than two months left; it wants to "somehow hop on one leg to the end of this term, jump out of the White House, and let everyone go their own way," the analyst emphasized.
In his opinion, the president's administration does not want to deal with this at all and is just buying time.
Recall that on November 20, information emerged that the Air Forces may have struck with Storm Shadow missiles at a location associated with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kursk region. It is possible that there were not only Russian military personnel but also DPRK fighters, particularly North Korean generals.
On December 2, GUR representative Andriy Chernyak reported that DPRK sent three generals to assist Russia. They, along with other North Korean soldiers, are in closed camps where preparations are underway for their involvement in combat operations.
