Petition authors on the Ukrainian president's website have urged sanctions against Poroshenko for paying taxes to the Russian budget and other actions benefiting Russia.

Sanctions are being proposed against the people's deputy and fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko. A corresponding petition has been registered on the president's official website.
Авторы петиции к президенту Украины требуют ввести санкции против Порошенко за уплату налогов в Россию и другие действия, выгодные для РФ.

The authors of the petition cite Petro Poroshenko's involvement in the establishment of the Party of Regions, his work in the government of Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, his connections with representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, and his business activities that paid taxes in the Russian Federation as the basis for sanctions against him.

"The data indicates stable trade cooperation between Petro Poroshenko and Russian partners through his companies even amidst the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The income generated from such activities, along with tax payments, points to Poroshenko's complicity in financing the Russian army through his companies. The Lipetsk Confectionery Factory alone, which continued operations in Russia until 2017, paid $8.8 million in taxes to the Russian budget. This could serve as grounds for the application of sanctions under Ukraine's Law on Sanctions", – the petition states.

The authors of the petition highlighted Poroshenko's role in the ratification of the Kharkiv agreements, which they believe weakened the country's defense capabilities, contributed to the annexation of Crimea, financed the "LPR/DPR" with 1.5 billion UAH, and resulted in the alienation of the "Samara – Western direction" oil pipeline.

"While serving as President of Ukraine, Poroshenko used the powers and tools at his disposal to terminate contracts with South Africa. Subsequently, at the request of Russian representatives, he facilitated the signing of contracts for coal supplies from non-controlled territories on behalf of Ukraine. Poroshenko's name appears in a criminal case concerning the seizure of the Ukrainian section of the "Samara – Western direction" oil pipeline, which was beneficial for the Russian Federation", – they emphasized.

The authors also assert that Poroshenko actively supported the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church's representation in Ukraine.

"By supporting the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, whose representatives expressed support and justification for the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, Poroshenko may have participated in activities that directly or indirectly facilitated the aggression of the Russian Federation," – states the petition.

The petition calls for measures to prevent Poroshenko's activities that could harm Ukraine and urges limitations on his influence in the political and economic life of the country.

"Considering the existing facts and potential threats to Ukraine's national security, the actions taken by Poroshenko aimed at undermining Ukraine's sovereignty and assisting the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, I request measures to be taken to prevent further activities that could harm Ukraine's interests and to submit a proposal to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine regarding the imposition of personal sanctions on Petro Poroshenko", – the petition concludes.
