Biden still believes he could defeat Trump, according to the Washington Post.

Current White House leader Joe Biden and some of his aides still believe that he should have remained in the presidential race in the U.S., where he could have defeated Republican candidate Donald Trump. This was reported by The Washington Post on December 28, citing sources.
Байден по-прежнему уверен, что смог бы одержать победу над Трампом, сообщает Washington Post.

It is noted that, despite poor debate performances and low poll numbers that prompted Democrats to pressure him to withdraw, Biden and his aides have been telling people in recent days that he could beat Trump.

They also believe that the outcome of the presidential election would have been different if U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, who would replace Biden, had fought more vigorously for the White House.

At the same time, many Democrats are accusing the president of waiting too long to step aside, leaving Harris with too little time for her campaign.

Additionally, some Democrats charge Biden with breaking his 2020 campaign promise to pass the torch after one term and to steer the country away from another Trump presidency.

As pointed out by Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, Biden "ran his campaign on the promise of being a one-term president, after which he would hand over his powers to another generation."
