Trump, who will take office on January 20, stated that he will strive for a swift agreement between Ukraine and the aggressor country, Russia. In Europe, there are concerns that such an agreement may be unfavorable for Ukraine and could potentially solidify the gains made by Russian occupiers, the agency noted.
As Bloomberg indicated, European leaders and officials have reached out to the U.S. requesting more weapons and artillery for Ukraine, the imposition of additional sanctions against key sources of income for Russia, and restrictions on its ability to acquire banned technologies used in weaponry.
Although Biden has limited time to address these requests, the U.S. is already working on implementing new sanctions against the Russian oil fleet and North Korea, which has sent its troops to assist Russia, by the end of November, agency sources reported.
According to analysts, the next few weeks will be crucial for positioning Ukraine strongly. They believe that any agreement reached by Trump "may attempt to freeze the conflict along the lines where Russia currently occupies 20% of Ukrainian territory."
U.S. officials have stated that all available resources for Ukraine will be utilized before Trump takes office. However, the delivery of certain types of weaponry may take several months and extend beyond Biden's term, Bloomberg concluded.
