For the development projects of "narrow" European railway lines in Ukraine, the state budget for 2025 allocates 128 million UAH, as reported by Deputy Finance Minister Alexander Kava in an exclusive interview with the "Interfax-Ukraine" agency.
"In 2025, in addition to the wagons, the state budget includes 128 million UAH for co-financing projects aimed at developing railway infrastructure to European standards with a track width of 1435 mm. The projects were selected by the European Commission, which provided a grant for Ukraine covering 50% of the project costs. The remaining half will be financed from the state budget," Kava stated.
According to him, among the priority projects is the construction of a 1435 mm standard track from Chop to Uzhgorod, the establishment of an international hub in the regional center of Transcarpathia, as well as preparations for the implementation of the project for the construction of a 1435 mm European track from the Romanian border to Chernivtsi and from the Mostyska-1 station to Lviv.
