The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has initiated procurement procedures for gas power plants under a loan and donor agreement with PJSC "Ukrnafta" on its own electronic platform, announced the company's director, Sergey Koretsky, on Facebook.

According to him, the open tender will take place in one stage, with bids from suppliers accepted until January 27, 2025.

The first procurement has been announced for the supply of gas piston power plants and cogeneration units for three facilities with a total installed electrical capacity of approximately 70 MW.

The second procurement has been announced for the supply of gas engine power plants in containers with a total capacity of around 56 MW. These are modular installations that can be relocated based on needs.

In both cases, the main auxiliary equipment and related services will be procured.

After the equipment procurement, the procedures for acquiring contractor services will begin to carry out all necessary construction and installation works.

"In the context of ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy system, the new generating capacities will be a crucial element for ensuring energy resilience. The project is financed through an EBRD loan and co-financed by attracting investment grants from the Netherlands, the USA, and Norway, as well as a special technical cooperation grant," noted Koretsky.

As reported, "Ukrnafta" and the EBRD signed a loan agreement for EUR 80 million in early December 2024, aimed at the supply and installation of gas distributed power plants and cogeneration capacities in various regions of Ukraine.

Additionally, the EBRD loan will be co-financed through investment grants of EUR 9.5 million from the Netherlands and EUR 12.5 million from the USA, which will be directed through a special EBRD fund, as well as a technical support grant of EUR 1.8 million from other donors.

"Ukrnafta" is the largest oil production company in Ukraine and operates the national network of gas stations. In March 2024, the company took over the management of Glusco's assets and currently operates 547 gas stations – 462 owned and 85 under management.

The company is implementing a comprehensive program to revive its operations and update the format of its gas stations. Since February 2023, it has been issuing its own fuel vouchers and "NAFTAКарта" cards, sold to legal entities and individuals through LLC "Ukrnafta-Potach".

"Ukrnafta" holds 92 special permits for the industrial development of fields. It has 1,832 oil and 154 gas production wells on its balance sheet.

The largest shareholder of "Ukrnafta" is the National Joint Stock Company "Naftogaz of Ukraine," holding a 50%+1 share. In November 2022, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine made a decision to transfer shares of corporate rights of the company, previously held by private owners, to the state, which is now managed by the Ministry of Defense.
