Fico announced a large-scale cyberattack on Slovakia and mentioned Ukraine, prompting a response from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

On January 24, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced at a briefing a "massive cyberattack" targeting Slovakia. He shared this information on Facebook, as reported by Dennik N.
Фицо сообщил о масштабной кибератаке на Словакию, упомянув Украину. Министерство иностранных дел Украины дало ответ на это заявление.

The Prime Minister framed the briefing topic as follows: "Currently, there is a large-scale cyberattack against Slovakia."

Fico claims that at noon on January 24, a cyberattack was initiated on the General Health Insurance Company with the aim of obtaining confidential information about diagnoses.

Fico described the incident as "a textbook example of how to eliminate disobedient governments that hold different opinions on certain matters," mentioning Ukraine and the European Union.

The Prime Minister of Slovakia believes that the attack is orchestrated by "members of the opposition, non-governmental organizations organized abroad, foreign instructors, and the media."

The publication notes that the insurance company's website and its mobile application continued to function, while the General Health Insurance Company was unable to confirm or deny anything.

In Dennik N, it was suggested that the "cyberattack" claimed by Fico is actually not a cyberattack, but a phishing attempt to deceitfully obtain confidential information.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to Fico's statements later today reacted.

"We categorically reject any insinuations regarding Ukraine's involvement in the cyberattack against the medical insurance company in Slovakia. Once again, we urge Prime Minister Robert Fico to stop searching for imaginary enemies in the friendly nation of Ukraine and among the Slovak people," stated the Ukrainian diplomats.
