The former commander of the operational-tactical group "Kharkiv," Brigadier General Yuri Galushkin, has been detained until March 22, 2025, without the option of bail. This measure was imposed on January 24 by the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv, as reported by Suspilne.

It was noted that Galushkin's lawyer requested no preventive measures be taken and that his client be released from custody during the hearing. The prosecution, however, advocated for the general to be held in custody without the possibility of bail.

Additionally, three individuals—two members of parliament and a military officer—submitted a statement indicating their willingness to act as guarantors for Galushkin.

Nevertheless, the former commander of the operational-tactical group "Kharkiv" was placed in custody without the possibility of bail. It has been reported that Galushkin's defense plans to appeal the decision.

Family members of the general disclosed that in early January, he had a plate inserted into his shoulder, and since his detention, he has not received any medical assistance. According to the family, Galushkin needs to have dressings changed and to take pain relief medication.

It is emphasized that the court has ordered the detention facility to provide medical care and treatment for the suspect.

What General Galushkin is Suspected Of

As previously reported by UNIAN, on January 20, the SBI detained two generals and a colonel, among whom was Galushkin. They were informed of suspicions regarding negligence in their duties, committed under martial law, which led to severe consequences. This pertains to a border breach in the Kharkiv region in the spring of 2024.

On January 21, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv set a preventive measure for Galushkin—detention for 60 days with the possibility of a 5 million hryvnia bail. A bail was posted for the former commander. However, as soon as he was released from custody, he was immediately detained again. The SBI announced new findings in the case regarding the border breach in the Kharkiv region.
