"Grossi will travel to Ukraine next week for high-level meetings in Kyiv, where the ongoing efforts of the IAEA to prevent a nuclear disaster during the military conflict will be discussed," the statement says.
The agency noted that this will be Grossi's 11th mission to Ukraine "since the conflict began nearly three years ago."
According to the IAEA, this is intended to "demonstrate the unwavering commitment of the IAEA to assist Ukraine in ensuring nuclear safety."
"As long as this terrible war continues, the IAEA will be present and remain active, focused on doing everything possible to support nuclear safety in extremely challenging circumstances. Since the overall situation remains unstable and fragile, our work there remains crucial," quotes the organization its director general.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky last met with Grossi in Kyiv on September 3, 2024.
