Zelensky warns that excluding Ukraine from U.S.-Russia war negotiations is extremely dangerous.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that excluding Ukraine from negotiations between the U.S. and Russia regarding the war in Ukraine would be "extremely dangerous." In an interview with AP published on February 2, he urged for further discussions between Kyiv and Washington to create a ceasefire plan.
Зеленский предупредил, что исключение Украины из переговоров между США и Россией по вопросам войны представляет собой серьезную угрозу.

According to Zelensky, the aggressor country Russia is unwilling to engage in negotiations for a ceasefire or discuss any concessions that the Kremlin views as a defeat. The Ukrainian leader believes that U.S. President Donald Trump could bring the illegitimate President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to the negotiating table by threatening sanctions aimed at Russia's energy and banking systems, as well as by continuing support for the Ukrainian military.

As noted by the agency, Zelensky's remarks followed Trump's comments on Friday, where he stated that American and Russian officials "are already talking" about ending the war. Trump mentioned that his administration had conducted "very serious" discussions with Russia but did not provide further details.

Zelensky emphasized that the U.S. and Russia "may have their own relationship," but discussing Ukraine without it is dangerous for everyone.

According to the President of Ukraine, his team is in contact with the Trump administration, but these discussions are taking place at a general level. He believes that personal meetings will soon occur to develop more detailed agreements.
