"Broken telephone": The Israeli ambassador denied reports of transferring captured Russian weapons from Lebanon to Ukraine.

The Israeli ambassador to Kyiv, Michael Brodsky, denied reports suggesting that his country intends to transfer Russian weapons captured in Lebanon to Ukraine. The Israeli diplomat made this statement in an interview with "Radio Liberty," published on January 27.
"Испорченный телефон": Посол Израиля опроверг слухи о передаче Украине захваченного в Ливане российского вооружения.

On January 21, the press service of the Ukrainian embassy in Israel announced on its Facebook page that Ukrainian Ambassador Yevhen Korniychuk met with Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel, during which he expressed gratitude for her preliminary proposal in the Knesset to transfer Russian-made weapons captured by the IDF in Lebanon or from Israel's enemies to Ukraine. The Ukrainian side "expressed hope for a positive resolution of this issue."

On January 26, the British newspaper The Telegraph reported that Israel had already begun transferring Soviet and Russian weapons captured in Lebanon to Ukraine.

"I might disappoint you a bit, but this is not an initiative from Israel; there seems to be some miscommunication here," Brodsky commented in an interview with "Radio Liberty." "Someone probably misunderstood something. Sharren Haskel, when she was still a member of parliament and not the deputy foreign minister, proposed a private legislative initiative for Israel to transfer captured Russian-made weapons to Ukraine. This initiative did not advance in the Knesset."

According to the Israeli diplomat, since then Haskel has become deputy minister and can no longer represent private legislative initiatives as a government member.

"The matter of weapon transfers is entirely within the purview of the military and the Ministry of Defense. The Ministry of Defense of Israel has not made any such decision," Brodsky concluded.
