The project emphasizes the need for the demobilization of injured soldiers, as well as those over the age of 50.
The authors of the document also refer to a request from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Commanders at lower levels are reaching out to the General Staff, stating that there should be fewer mobilizations of older individuals because in certain combat areas, they cannot be utilized. This is due to the fact that the 'army is aging' right now. At the same time, they note that there is value in individuals aged 50 and above in the army; the key is how to engage them," – it is stated in the explanatory note.
However, the document allows for men to serve in the military after reaching the maximum age if they choose to do so.
The authors of the bill also reference a petition registered on July 5 to reduce the mobilization age for men from 60 to 50 years, which has garnered the necessary 25,000 votes for consideration.
The author of the document, Andrey Azarov, indicated that he has made the corresponding proposal to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "with the aim of improving the economic situation in the country."
