A new factory for the production of textured wafer sheets and other dough-based products (such as tartlets, ice cream cones, dessert trays, etc.) is set to begin production in the summer of 2025, according to the Office of Sustainable Regional Development on Facebook.
"We have started the construction of a new production facility. The team from the Investment Office of the Ternopil region has provided full support to investors in the construction of the new food semi-finished products factory," the statement reads.
However, the identity of the investor behind the construction has not been disclosed.
The statement highlights that comprehensive investment support has been ensured, including the diagnosis of requests and technical requirements from the investor, selection of suitable land plots for construction (70 locations analyzed), negotiations with the local community regarding individual conditions and preferences, legal expertise of the land lease agreement, and selection of the design organization and potential contractors.
"All these services allowed us to begin preparatory work in October and obtain permission for construction," the statement adds.
It is noted that this will create 250 jobs with competitive salaries for the local community, exports to over 12 countries worldwide, including all of Europe, the USA, Israel, and Tunisia, as well as more than 20 million UAH in annual taxes to the local budget, a demand for rental and purchase of housing, which will automatically stimulate the local construction business and real estate market development.
"Ultimately, one hryvnia of direct investment in new production generates at least 2.7-3 UAH in related sectors," the statement emphasizes.
Among the major producers of wafer semi-finished products (B2B and B2C) in Ukraine is the company "Lekorna," established in 1998 (Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv region), which claims to be a leader in the production of such products. It has the capacity to produce 270 cubic meters of products per day.
According to information on its website, its consumers include ATB, Fozzy Group, "Metro," and "Auchan."
