Orban has once again urged for a ceasefire and negotiations with Russia, expressing his "horror" at Ukraine's victory plan.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated on October 17th via Facebook that the plan for Ukraine's victory, presented today to the European Council by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, is "nothing short of horrifying."
Орбан вновь выступил за прекращение огня и переговоры с Россией, отметив, что его "пугает" план Украины на победу.

Orban pointed out that since the outset of the full-scale war, he has been advocating for a change in the strategy of supporting Ukraine adopted by the European Union.

"The European Union entered this war with a poorly organized, poorly executed, and poorly calculated strategy, for which the President of the European Commission bears primary responsibility. We are losing this war, so the strategy is not working. It needs to be changed! But this does not mean more wars, more dangerous weapons, and long-range arms; rather, it means we must shift from a war strategy to a peace strategy. We need a ceasefire and peaceful negotiations," he wrote.

Orban stated that he intends to urge German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron, on behalf of the entire European Union, to "begin negotiations with the Russians as soon as possible to find a way out of this situation."
