Against the backdrop of massive anti-government protests, the Slovak police announced their intention to deport a Ukrainian citizen due to an alleged threat of a coup. This was reported by the publication Dennik N, citing police president Jana Maškárová.

"Currently, one person is in the foreign border police department, where administrative expulsion is being carried out," Maškárová stated, assuring that the deportation should occur "as soon as possible."

According to Dennik N, the Parliamentary Committee on Military Affairs and Security was supposed to discuss a report from the intelligence services regarding the alleged preparation for a coup, but the meeting did not take place. The committee chairman, Richard Kluč, representing the ruling Smer party, claimed that deportation to Ukraine would be "the biggest punishment" for the detained individual.

"Because I assume that he will be detained and sent to the army," he said.

According to Slovakia's Interior Minister Matúš Eštok, nine other individuals are also planned to be banned from entering the country and the Schengen Zone as a whole.

Meanwhile, Slovak authorities have not disclosed the identity of the person being deported. The Slovak opposition is also unaware of who this person is and generally doubts that a coup was actually being prepared.

"Just as information about the preparation of the Maidan was fabricated, information about the person who is to be expelled may also be fabricated, regardless of whether he was involved in anything," stated opposition MP Juraj Krupa.

Protests in Slovakia

As reported by UNIAN, in recent days, Slovakia has been engulfed by mass street protests against the pro-Moscow policies of Robert Fico's government. The Prime Minister himself hinted transparently that he considers these protests an attempt to implement a "colored revolution" scenario at the behest of external forces.

Recently, the Slovak government has repeatedly accused Ukraine of interfering in Slovakia's internal affairs, particularly in the context of the ongoing street protests.
