According to her, a month ago Poland invited the entire diplomatic corps; however, it changed its decision regarding Hungary after Budapest granted political asylum to former Deputy Minister of Justice of Poland Marcin Romanowski, who was detained in July over allegations of misusing state funds.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk also criticized Orbán's stance on the aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, which Warsaw views as pro-Russian.
This decision by Poland was labeled "pitiful and childish" by Hungary's Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, who was quoted on social media platform X by Hungary's State Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Relations with the Public, Zoltán Kovács.
❗️"Pathetic and childish—those are the only words I can use to describe this decision." With these strong words, FM Szijjártó condemned @sikorskiradek 's move to exclude Hungary's ambassador from the opening of Poland's EU presidency. pic.twitter.com/h7xSgcm8xV
