The Swedish government has revised the terms and broadened the scope of special export credit guarantees for conducting business with Ukraine.
According to the Swedish government, the aim is to enable a greater number of businesses to export to Ukraine, thereby supporting the country's sustainable recovery.
"Swedish businesses want and can do more in the recovery of Ukraine, but they need support that reduces risk. The goal of the changes is to facilitate and secure exports to Ukraine for Swedish companies. This is an important step in Sweden's contribution to the country's recovery," explained Minister for International Development and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa.
The provision for special export credit guarantees for Ukraine came into effect on April 1, 2024. This means that exporting companies can apply for special export credit guarantees through the Swedish Export Credit Agency for businesses that help support economic and social development and well-being in Ukraine. In 2024, 333 million Swedish kronor were allocated for these special export credit guarantees for Ukraine, and this amount increased to 888 million Swedish kronor in 2025.
Changes to the regulations will further simplify exports to Ukraine for more companies. The maximum repayment term for guarantees has been adjusted from three to four years, and coverage has increased from 80 percent to a maximum of 95 percent. The amount that can be provided to companies that are part of the same group has been raised from 100 million Swedish kronor to 300 million Swedish kronor.
