"The year 2024 is coming to a close. Another year of fighting for Ukraine's freedom. A year of resilience and indomitability. We have successfully navigated it thanks to our warriors – both male and female defenders. Additionally, we owe our progress to all Ukrainians who have contributed to our victory. Today, I want to particularly highlight the 10 key areas where significant results have been achieved," said Shmyhal.
According to him, these areas include:
- security and defense;
- financial resilience;
- energy;
- reconstruction;
- the state fulfilling its social obligations;
- education and healthcare;
- veteran policy;
- adaptive economy, business operations, and logistics development;
- European integration;
- digitalization.
The Prime Minister specifically emphasized that more than 50% of this year's state budget expenditures were allocated to defense, and the capabilities of Ukraine's defense industry have increased sixfold due to investments from both the state and the private sector.
"In the drone segment, domestic production accounts for over 96%. Through the 'Army of Drones' project, more than 1.2 million drones have been procured. Ukraine produces more self-propelled artillery systems than any country in the free world. There has been significant progress in the missile program. Ukrainian long-range weapons have been developed," Shmyhal highlighted.
He noted that the "Made in Ukraine" policy, which launched at the beginning of 2024, has already generated a 0.6% increase in GDP.
"European integration. The year 2024 has been significant in this regard. Pre-accession negotiations for Ukraine's membership in the European Union have begun. [...] We are ready to promptly complete all 'homework' so that EU member states can make a political decision as quickly as possible," the head of government stated.
He also mentioned that nearly 22 million Ukrainians are now using the "Diia" portal, which offers over 120 services.
"The main result of the third year of full-scale war is our resilience, our adaptability, and our swift responses to numerous challenges. [...] There are many challenges ahead and a lot of work to do," Shmyhal emphasized.
