Scholz will seek a vote of confidence from the Bundestag on December 16, with early elections in Germany expected to take place in February, according to media reports.

On December 16, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz plans to bring the issue of confidence in the government before the Bundestag for discussion. This was reported by Handelsblatt on November 12, citing sources.
16 декабря Шольц обратится к Бундестагу с просьбой о доверии, а досрочные выборы в Германии состоятся в феврале, сообщают СМИ.

It is noted that initially, Scholz planned to request a vote of confidence on January 15, 2025, to hold new elections at the end of March. However, under public pressure, he stated on November 10 in an interview with ARD that it would be "absolutely no problem" for him to bring the confidence question before Christmas on December 25.

Amid the disintegration of the government coalition, it is expected that Scholz will not receive the vote of confidence, which could lead to early elections in Germany on February 23, 2025, as previously suggested to the President of Germany by the leaders of the Social Democratic Party of Germany and the CDU/CSU bloc. This date has also been agreed upon with the Green Party, Handelsblatt emphasized.
