According to Szijjártó, the European Union is prepared to take measures to protect oil and gas pipelines, as well as electricity transmission lines leading to EU member states from outside. He also stated that the European Commission is negotiating with Ukraine regarding gas supplies and is asking Kyiv to provide guarantees for the preservation of oil transit.
At the same time, the Hungarian official claimed that the sanctions imposed by Europe on the Russian Federation primarily harm not the Russian economy, but allegedly the European one.
Furthermore, Szijjártó described Ukraine's behavior as "brazen" and accused Kyiv of creating a threat to the energy security of Eastern European countries.
"The EU not only turns a blind eye, [...] but for some reason encourages Ukrainians to behave extremely brazenly [...] towards a group of EU countries, that is, practically against the EU," he said.
