The administration of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is planning to take action against Professor Nikita Vasilenko, who recently became embroiled in a sexist scandal. This was stated by the university's rector, Vladimir Bugrov, in a comment to hromadske.

"Measures will be taken. The situation is negative. I do not support Professor Vasilenko's statements and condemn them," he said.

The rector avoided giving a direct answer regarding the specific actions that will be taken. According to Bugrov, the professor will be penalized in accordance with the law, ensuring that this decision "cannot be appealed in court" afterwards.

Sexist Scandal Involving Professor Vasilenko

As reported by UNIAN, recently, Professor Nikita Vasilenko from the Institute of Journalism at Kyiv University made an offensive remark about Ukrainian women during a broadcast on one of the YouTube channels. While discussing the idea of sending European peacekeepers to Ukraine, Vasilenko suggested that this could also help address the country's demographic issues.

"At least forty thousand men, with money, hungry for women, who have not faced the front, but have been raised on the good food of Europe. And hundreds of thousands of hungry Ukrainian women who for various reasons did not manage to leave, and whose husbands have either been killed in the war or are injured," Vasilenko explained his thoughts.

This statement sparked a wave of outrage on social media, and the student parliament of the Institute of Journalism announced a boycott of the administration until the professor is dismissed.

The scandal also drew a response from the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmitry Lubinets. He sent a letter to the Ministry of Education and the university itself and threatened to contact the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
