Zelensky's advisor to Trump's special envoy: If the U.S. plan is merely a ceasefire and elections, then it's a failed strategy.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's communications advisor, Dmytro Litvyn, has described the ceasefire and election plan proposed by U.S. special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, as a "failure." Litvyn expressed this opinion in a post on February 2.
Советник Зеленского обратился к спецпосланнику Трампа: если цель США – лишь прекращение огня и выборы, то это неэффективный план.

Kellogg informed Reuters on February 1 that if a ceasefire is declared in the aggressor country Russia's war against Ukraine "in the coming months," the United States expects that Ukraine will hold parliamentary and presidential elections by the end of 2025.

The agency, citing sources, reported that Trump's plan to end the war in Ukraine is still in the development stage, but Kellogg and other members of the current U.S. president's team have been discussing in recent days how to "encourage Ukraine to agree to elections" as part of a ceasefire with Russia.

"We have not seen the full interview with Mr. Kellogg, only a few quotes about the elections, so it is difficult to assess his position. But if his plan is merely a ceasefire and elections, then it is a failing plan," Litvin commented in X.

According to him, the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin "cannot be intimidated by just these two things."

"Moscow continues to ramp up missile and ammunition production, find new ways to circumvent sanctions, and profit from oil. It is clear that all this weaponry is not being created to respect democratic neighbors. Russia's military alliance with North Korea clearly does not adhere to a ceasefire," noted Zelensky's advisor.

Litvin added that in Kyiv, they "would certainly prefer to see a deeper approach from the officials of key partners."

"But we remember that President Trump spoke deeply and wisely about the situation during his meetings with President Zelensky, and about what could actually exert pressure on Putin. That is why it is important to quickly move to real work between the teams on a concrete plan for ending the war and ensuring lasting peace," summarized the advisor to the President of Ukraine.
