The Sports Arbitration Court backed Tymoshchuk in his bid to reclaim his titles in Ukraine, with the UAF providing their comments on the situation.

Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, the former captain of Ukraine's national football team and FC Shakhtar Donetsk, who currently resides and works in Russia, has successfully appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland. This appeal was against the decision made by the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) to revoke his coaching license and strip him of all titles earned with Shakhtar. This news was reported by Tribuna.com on November 18.
Спортивный арбитраж поддержал Тимощука в восстановлении его титулов в Украине. УАФ уже прокомментировала это решение.

On March 11, 2022, UAF not only stripped Tymoshchuk of all his titles, but also imposed a lifetime ban on him from engaging in professional activities in Ukraine.

"The 45-year-old coach of [Saint Petersburg's] Zenit demanded the lifting of sanctions imposed due to his continued work in the Russian Federation. [...] In 2023, Tymoshchuk filed an appeal with CAS, and the hearing took place in April 2024. The court has now overturned the decisions of the Ukrainian football authorities," the publication claims.

According to the report, CAS justified its decision by stating that from the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 until March 11, 2022, "Tymoshchuk did not take any actions that would warrant such disciplinary sanctions against him."

The UAF confirmed to Tribuna.com that the association indeed received the CAS decision.

"Unfortunately, the Europeans approached this case in a very formal manner and demonstrated a partial misunderstanding of the realities we live in. The position of the Ukrainian football community is clear and has never changed. Individuals like Tymoshchuk have no place in Ukrainian football," the UAF commented.
