The number of casualties from the missile strike on the city of Izium in the Kharkiv region has risen to 55, including three children. This was reported by the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov, via Telegram.
"The number of injured as a result of the shelling in Izium has increased to 55. Among them are a 6-year-old boy, and girls aged 14 and 16. The 14-year-old girl is in serious condition. The boy and the 16-year-old girl are in moderate condition," the official stated.
According to him, most of the injured are employees of the tax service, the Children’s Affairs Service, the state executive service, a medical college, and other institutions.
Synegubov informed that the missile strike was likely carried out with an "Iskander." Among the five deceased are a 44-year-old man, a 69-year-old man, two women, and another man whose details are being established.
Later, he added that the deceased women were aged 18 and 19, one of whom was pregnant.
According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, the administrative building of the Izium City Council was partially destroyed, and the administrative building and windows of three residential apartment buildings were damaged.
Evgeny Vasilenko, a representative of the State Emergency Service in the Kharkiv region, reported on the air of Day.LIVE that the fifth deceased, who was retrieved from the rubble on the first floor, was an employee of the administrative building in Izium.
He noted that the strike hit a five-story administrative building, causing partial destruction. Other structures nearby were also damaged.
Later, the head of the Investigative Department of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, Sergey Bolvinov, reported that the deceased 18 and 19-year-old girls in Izium were sisters who had come to the city on business.
"Angelina and Alexandra – two sisters, both died on the spot. The elder, Angelina, was pregnant. She came with her sister and mother-in-law to the passport office to process documents. Along with the girls, the driver who brought them also perished. Angelina's mother-in-law survived – she first saw black smoke and fire, and then found her relatives," Bolvinov noted.
He emphasized that all the deceased and injured are civilians.
Bolvinov confirmed preliminary reports stating that the missile strike on Izium was carried out using the "Iskander-M" system.

Today, February 4, Russian occupiers launched a missile strike on Izium in the Kharkiv region, hitting the administrative building in the city center, which led to damage to residential buildings. As a result of the attack, five people were killed, and more than 40 sought medical assistance.
