In the Rivne region, as a result of a fire, three young boys lost their lives, and another child was hospitalized.
According to reports from the police of the region, the tragedy occurred this morning in the village of Pevzh, Dubno district, in a home where a large family resides.
As per police information, the 28-year-old mother laid her one-month-old baby down to sleep in one of the rooms while she went to the summer kitchen to prepare food. Meanwhile, three of her sons—two four-year-olds and a two-year-old—were left playing in another room. Four other children were at school.
"After a while, concerned neighbors rushed into the yard to report that the house was on fire. The father immediately returned from work and called for an ambulance. They managed to extinguish the fire themselves," the report states.
It is noted that all four boys were taken by car to meet the medical team. However, upon their arrival, they confirmed the death of one child. Resuscitation efforts were initiated for the others. Unfortunately, the lives of two more boys could not be saved.
The infant was hospitalized at the Lutsk Children's Hospital. The threat to his life has passed.
An investigation is underway under part 2 of article 270 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of established legislation requirements for fire or technogenic safety). The cause of the fire is being determined by specialists.
According to data from the State Emergency Service, the fire damaged belongings and furniture in the living room of the house.
The police added that the family was not registered with any social services.
