"Bobozoda urged his Russian counterpart, Tatyana Moskalkova, to promote the observance of the rights of Tajik citizens by the Russian law enforcement agencies and to oversee similar cases currently under review," the ombudsman's office stated.
The agency noted that reports of violations of the rights of labor migrants – citizens of Tajikistan on the territory of the Russian Federation – have come to light through media and social networks.
"It is evident that law enforcement officials are employing prohibited methods of treatment towards labor migrants, such as rudeness, beatings, and insults directed at them, and we are concerned about the violations of the rights and freedoms of migrants. [...] Citizens of Tajikistan are often detained at the border for extended periods, sometimes for many days, without adequate conditions for detention and nourishment," the release stated.
The office of the ombudsman of Tajikistan pointed out that among those who are treated improperly by Russians are officials, students, elderly people, women, and children.
