According to the American leader, the European Union "has truly taken advantage of the USA" by not accepting American cars or agricultural products. Trump believes that the USA "takes everything from them – from millions of cars to a vast amount of food and agricultural products."
When asked by the BBC if there are specific deadlines for announcing tariffs on the EU, Trump responded that "I wouldn’t say there’s a specific timeline, but it will happen very soon."
The president also added that the United States "has been robbing almost all countries in the world" and that this "has been unfair."
The European Union will provide a "decisive" response if President Trump imposes tariffs on European goods, reports Euronews citing a spokesperson for the European Commission. He noted that Brussels regrets the actions of the USA, which could lead to economic chaos and rising inflation.
Additionally, the EU stated that they are prepared to respond firmly to any trading partner that unjustly or baselessly imposes tariffs on European goods, the publication writes.
