By year-end, Ukraine will prepare energy resilience passports for its regions to counteract Russian aggression, according to President Zelensky.

By the end of 2024, Ukraine is expected to prepare energy resilience passports for its regions for the first time, enabling them to maintain stability amid energy sector bombardments, announced President Volodymyr Zelensky.

By the end of 2024, Ukraine is expected to prepare energy resilience passports for its regions for the first time, enabling them to maintain stability amid energy attacks, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"By the end of the year, energy resilience passports for our regions will be prepared. This is a first for Ukraine. A foundation will be established for all regions to withstand all energy challenges," said the head of state in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday during the presentation of the Resilience Plan.

According to him, next year, the passports should be implemented "in terms of generation – both electricity and heat," particularly focusing on the decentralization of generation.

He added that attention must also be given to energy consumption management in Ukraine.

"Supporting rational energy consumption is the duty of the state. We are accustomed to the concept of energy efficiency. But we must get used to the idea that energy efficiency measures are not just for someone else in the country, they are about you," emphasized the president.

As reported, according to acting head of the board of NEC "Ukrenergo" Oleksiy Brekht, by the end of the year, each region of Ukraine must approve and present an "energy independence passport," defining the required generation capacity for sustainable energy supply.

He explained that "Ukrenergo" has identified an "ideal energy mix" for the development of energy in each region, taking into account their needs and capabilities, and provides all necessary information to determine the types of generation and the feasibility of its installation.

"50% of this ideal energy mix should be produced from renewable energy sources. Approximately 20-25% will be peak guaranteed capacities. Another 10-15% will be energy storage installations," noted the head of NEC.
