The U.S. ambassador stated that Ukraine will not receive an invitation to join NATO in the near future.

NATO has no plans to invite Ukraine to join the Alliance in the near future. This was stated by U.S. Ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith during a briefing in Brussels on October 16, ahead of a meeting of defense ministers from NATO member countries, as reported by the State Department's website.
США: Украина не получит приглашение в НАТО в ближайшем будущем.

On October 16, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, presented a plan for Ukraine's victory in the war initiated by the aggressor state, Russia. His first point includes an invitation for Ukraine to join NATO now.

Commenting on the U.S. stance regarding the potential invitation for Ukraine to join the North Atlantic Alliance, as proposed in Zelensky's victory plan, Smith noted that "NATO's position on Ukraine's future membership in the Alliance is very clear."

"This summer at the summit commemorating NATO's 75th anniversary, we stated that Ukraine is on an irreversible path to membership and that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance," said the U.S. Ambassador to NATO. "Right now, we are not at a stage where the Alliance can discuss the prospect of an invitation in the near future. However, as always, we will continue conversations with our friends in Ukraine to discuss ways to further align with the Alliance."
