Ukraine has successfully retrieved human rights activist Butkevich from Russian captivity.

Ukrainian human rights activist Maxim Butkevich was released on October 18 as part of a prisoner exchange with the aggressor country, Russia. This information was reported by the human rights center ZMINA, which he founded, citing Butkevich's father.

It has been reported that Maxim Butkevich was returned as a result of a prisoner exchange. He is currently on Ukrainian territory.

The Ukrainian side has not yet commented on the prisoner exchange with the Russian Federation.

According to data from the Russian Ministry of Defense, on October 18, a prisoner exchange between the Russian Federation and Ukraine took place with the mediation of the UAE, involving 95 individuals from each side.

The advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, Petr Andryushchenko, published a preliminary list of Ukrainian prisoners of war exchanged on October 18 via Telegram. Butkevich is included in this list.
