The government has decided to provide quarterly support to Ukrainian veterans for sports activities.

On January 3rd, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved an experimental program that will provide funding for veterans to participate in sports activities. This was announced via Telegram by Taras Melnychuk, a member of the government and a deputy from the "Servant of the People" party in the Verkhovna Rada.

"The proposal from the Ministry of Veterans Affairs regarding the implementation of an experimental project over the next two years to provide assistance for physical education and sports to combat veterans and individuals with disabilities due to war has been approved," – he stated.

The parliament member noted that the government has approved the procedure for implementing the project.

"It is expected that assistance [...] will be provided in the amount of 1,500 UAH once per corresponding quarter during the experimental project exclusively for the purchase of services in a cashless form from legal entities and individual entrepreneurs engaged in economic activities in the field of physical culture and sports on the territory of Ukraine," – explained Melnychuk.

On December 14, 2024, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs reported on Facebook that one of the most effective tools for rehabilitating war veterans is engaging them in sports and promoting it within the veteran community of Ukraine.

On December 15, the Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine for Eurointegration, Ruslana Velychko-Tryfonyuk, announced that the ministry is working on an experimental project that provides funding for veterans to engage in sports. She noted that within the framework of the project, veterans will be able to receive funds to attend gyms and swimming pools.
