In the Khmelnytskyi region, a man was sentenced to imprisonment for failing to appear at the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support after receiving a combat summons.
According to the verdict of the Teofipol District Court dated November 18, in April, the previously convicted man underwent a military medical commission and was deemed fit for service, except for service in the airborne assault troops. He was handed a combat summons and required to report to the TCK by May 7 for further deployment to a military unit.
During the court hearing, the man only partially admitted his guilt. He claimed that he did not arrive at the TCK because the recruitment office staff promised to come and pick him up. He stated that he had no means to get there as buses were not running. An officer from the mobilization accounting department informed the court that no one had promised the man that TCK staff would come to pick him up.
"The defendant is characterized as mediocre at his place of residence. The circumstances of the case and the defendant's personality, considering the content of the pre-trial report, give the court reason to believe that the correction of the defendant is impossible without isolation from society," the court's decision states.
It is noted that in March of this year, the man was sentenced to five years of imprisonment under Part 1 of Article 121 (causing serious bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. At that time, he was released from serving his sentence with a probation period of two years.
Now, the court found the man guilty of evading military service and sentenced him to four years of imprisonment. By partially combining the unserved portion of the sentence from the previous verdict, the term was increased to six years.
Courts for Evasion from Mobilization
In October, it was reported that sentences were handed down in Kyiv to seven men who were evading mobilization. One of them was sentenced to four years in prison, while another received a five-year sentence.
In Chernihiv, a man was sentenced to three years of imprisonment with a probation period for stating that he did not come to the military enlistment office because he had a consolidated fracture of his right clavicle.
