Authorities in unrecognized Transnistria have announced rolling power outages.

The authorities of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (PMR) have announced that on the evening of January 3, there will be rolling blackouts in the region, according to NewsMaker, citing the "Ministry of Energy" of the PMR.
В непризнанном Приднестровье введены плановые отключения электричества по всему региону.

Due to the fact that the residents of Transnistria consume more electricity than the gas-deprived energy system produces, power outages are expected to last for one hour in various areas of Tiraspol, Bender, and Ribnita, as well as in several villages.

The outages are scheduled from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

The leader of the PMR, Vadim Krasnoselsky, stated that rolling blackouts are inevitable.

"Premises without centralized heating and gas boilers cool down, leading to an expected increase in electricity consumption. A sharp surge in load will inevitably result in emergency situations. [...] The load will continue to rise. Without rolling blackouts, we won't be able to manage. This is necessary to protect the system," he said.

The rest of Moldova is fully supplied with electricity, the government reported today.

"Currently, a 10% increase in electricity consumption is anticipated, and the state-owned company 'Energocom' has already reserved sufficient commercial capacity at the border with Romania to meet the demand on January 3. Citizens are urged to consume energy efficiently and rationally, especially during peak hours (9:00 AM–11:00 AM and 6:00 PM–11:00 PM), to further ensure the stability of the energy system," officials explained in Chisinau.
