In the city of Pyriatyn, Poltava region, during the escort of military conscripts to a training center, an unknown man shot a serviceman from the regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCRSS) with a hunting rifle and fled with one of the mobilized individuals.

This was reported by the Ground Forces Command on Facebook. "On February 1, 2025, at a gas station in Pyriatyn, during the escort of military conscripts to the 199th training center, an outrageous incident occurred - an armed attack on a serviceman from the Poltava district territorial recruitment and social support center," the statement reads.

It is noted that an unknown man wearing a gray balaclava and pixel-patterned pants approached the serviceman of the Poltava TCRSS, threatening him with a hunting rifle and demanding his weapon. After receiving a refusal, the assailant shot the serviceman. As a result of the serious injury, the soldier died on the spot.

After the attack, the perpetrator seized the serviceman's automatic weapon and fled with one of the mobilized conscripts.

Later, it became known that the Poltava police detained the man who shot the serviceman.

The head of the Poltava police, Yevhen Rohachev, reported that the location of the attackers was established within a few hours through operational-search measures. With the involvement of special police units from the region, they were apprehended.

According to the police, the shooter is a resident of Poltava region born in 1984. His accomplice is a resident of Poltava born in 1988.

"During an urgent search, investigators seized the weapon from the attacker. The question of notifying the suspects and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved," added the police chief.
