Russian and North Korean military leaders view North Korean soldiers as expendable and issue orders for "hopeless assaults," according to the White House.
The "human wave" tactic employed by the aggressor nation, Russia, in coordination with North Korean troops in the Kursk region against the Ukrainian Armed Forces is proving to be rather ineffective. This was stated by John Kirby, the U.S. National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, during a briefing on December 28, the transcript of which was released by the White House.

According to US estimates, the occupiers are suffering significant losses in this section of the front – over the past week of fighting, defense forces have eliminated around 1,000 enemy soldiers in this area.
"It is clear that the military leaders of Russia and North Korea view these troops as expendable and are issuing orders for hopeless assaults on Ukrainian fortifications. These North Korean soldiers seem to be highly indoctrinated, attacking even when it becomes evident that it is futile," Kirby stated.
North Korean soldiers do not surrender; instead, they attempt to take their own lives, likely fearing retribution against their families in North Korea if captured, he noted.
