"I signed a decree on the appointment of a commissioner for the protection of the rights of our soldiers and the family members of military personnel. Olga Reshetilova, a well-known Ukrainian human rights activist, will now be working on the preparation of a draft law for a military ombudsman – such an institution needs to be established. And it’s not just about having one person; systematic work is required so that the ombudsman has a staff and all the real opportunities to influence the situation and provide assistance," said Zelensky.
According to him, every Ukrainian soldier should feel that "it is indeed real – to seek support and receive it."
"What exactly the military ombudsman should do and how they should do it must be properly structured with the involvement of our soldiers, and we should ask them directly about it. We are doing this on the 'Army+' platform. We are launching a survey regarding the military ombudsman, and I urge every soldier and officer to express what the priorities should be," Zelensky encouraged.
