Excerpts from the interview published on Zelensky's Facebook.
On January 22, Trump demanded that the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin put an end to the "meaningless war" against Ukraine. He noted that "it will only get worse". Trump warned that if a "deal" is not reached soon, he may impose "high taxes, tariffs, and sanctions on everything sold by Russia to the United States and other partner countries."
"He doesn’t issue warnings – he’s simply stating that he genuinely wants to end the war," Zelensky commented. "For now, we don’t know how this will unfold, we lack the details. And I believe that President Trump himself doesn't know all the specifics. A lot, I would say, largely depends on what kind of fair peace we can achieve. And whether Putin genuinely wants to end the war. In my opinion, he does not."
The President of Ukraine believes that Trump "understands all these challenges."
"And he’s just saying that we need to wrap things up because it will get worse. And he mentions 'worse' with a message directed towards Russia," Zelensky clarified, stating that he appreciates such a strategy from the American president.
