Zelensky: Russia is using Wagner forces to exert pressure on Africa and create migration issues for Europe. We know how to eliminate them.

On November 23, during an international conference on food security titled "Grain from Ukraine" held in Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine is strengthening its presence in African countries. This information was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
Зеленский: Россия использует Вагнер для давления на Африку с целью миграционного влияния на Европу. Мы знаем, как с ними справиться.

"We made a promise to strengthen our presence in African countries. This is exactly what has happened in Africa. I signed an order to open 10 additional embassies on the African continent: seven are already open, and three will be opened soon," said Zelensky.

He emphasized that Ukraine is ready to cooperate in various fields – "from food supplies to technology exchanges and assistance in ensuring security."

The President of Ukraine highlighted that Kyiv is interested in establishing bilateral relations with different African countries that show interest in this.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine will remain a guarantor of food security, despite any actions taken by the aggressor country, Russia.

"Ukraine wants to expand its presence not only politically. The task has been set to open new grain houses – so-called storage hubs for various food products, alongside the opening of embassies," he added.

Zelensky also mentioned the presence of mercenaries from the Russian private military company "Wagner" in Africa, which has been recognized worldwide as an international criminal organization.

He stated, "Russia is trying to exert pressure on Africa using methods like Wagner mercenaries, in order to then apply migratory pressure on Europe."

"We know who the Wagner mercenaries are. We know how to combat them. We know how to eliminate them. This indicates that we have the relevant experience," – said the President of Ukraine in response to a question from a journalist from Senegal.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine "can assist in combating disinformation and in cyber defense, as it has been the target of thousands of cyberattacks, including on its banking system and communications."

"We cannot just fight disinformation from Ukraine. We must be present with you, and your countries, your leaders must be open to this. We are ready to work against Russian disinformation. Any disinformation. Simply providing the people of Africa with the truth, and they can choose which side they are on, because they are free people," said the President of Ukraine.

He warned that when it comes to Russian influence, African countries should prioritize security and independence over the benefits of cheaper resources, "even amid economic problems."

"When your country begins to crumble, when your children... At that moment, it doesn't matter what the energy prices are, what the gasoline prices are in your country. Believe us, this is so important before the war and it is nothing during the war, only if you allow it. This is a value – the value of each nation, each country," declared Zelensky.

He noted that Ukraine is ready to assist African countries, particularly in matters of food security, education, mineral extraction, and digitalization.
